My name is Josh Greene. I am a 36 - year old artist and waiter. Service-Works is my own foundation that is designed to bridge the gap between my art career and my service industry career. Each month I dedicate one night’s worth of my tips to fund a project. For the past twelve years I have been doing art projects while making a living waiting tables. I currently work as a waiter in a fine-dining restaurant in San Francisco. http://www.josh-greene.com/ Here are a couple of links to some recent press about Service-Works. Both articles share the same title, “The Tipping Point.” http://www.dwell.com/peopleplaces/profiles/4992971.html http://www.sfweekly.com/2007-07-04/culture/the-tipping-point/

Curating/Call for Proposals:

"Massive Change":
Australasia_2008
C-M.TV ;
Media Arts Network

Call for proposals are as follows:

Proposal Australasia_2008 is ‘glocal’ responses to events that are happening around the world. From a ‘local’ viewpoint to a ‘global’ distribution feed.
Current issues around forms of change that are effecting the planet: carbon counting, climate change, social networking, weather and ‘live’ data aesthetics…

The arena of "Massive Change" - since environmental tipping points are interconnected with other spheres that may have ramifications beyond the environment, into social and political systems- we open up that dialogue with you to interpret and make a proposal.

The intent is to seek permission to upload to C-M.TV for broadcasting around the world. We either link back to your web sites where work is already uploaded or have you upload to our server. The artists have total IP/ownership over their own work on C-M.TV. We act as a curated site, as another venue for the access, as a networking membrane and a collective with a similar context. Go to: http://www.critical-mas.tv/indexSPRING.php to the play archive of previously launched cities: New York, Paris, London

Specs: 5mb -320 x 240 Quicktime; ‘live’ data or generative content (self contained root folders); Flash; any other media that is sustainable on play.
We review your proposals online or via DVD format.

shows: "To breathe - Respirare"
In the video installation "To breathe – Respirare" the spectrum of colors move slowly and the video screen functions as a mirror in which the surrounding space is reflected. The tempo accelerates, the colors replace each other like pinpricks. The silent video work is accompanied by the sound piece "The Weaving Factory", made up of the sounds of the artist's breathing which rise in a rhythmic crescendo, creating the perception of a space-time that merges with the theatre itself.

transmediale.08 - CONSPIRE...

After two years as a guest of the Academy of Arts, transmediale.08 returns for its next edition in January/February 2008 to Berlin’s landmark House of World Cultures giving focus to digital technology as an intrinsic element of worldwide contemporary culture.

Under the theme CONSPIRE... transmediale.08 aims to hear from a broad range of artists, media activists and academics working within the realms of digital art and culture in ways which may be read as elaborating upon and challenging our understanding of collaborative and network practice. As such transmediale.08 looks to the cross-disciplinary tinkerers, utopian spelunkers, conspiratorial hoaxsters and stealth tacticians who question, subvert, undermine and bypass the unspoken rules, hidden codes of conduct and assumed truths entrenched within our information driven communication cultures and ideological belief structures.

By exploring subversive artistic methodologies and developing (counter-) conspiratorial strategies to uncover new forms of expression and digital discourse CONSPIRE... will attempt to enter the increasingly prevalent yet ambiguous worlds of network induced narratives, cryptic environments and speculative inquiry.

Under its motto CONSPIRE... , transmediale.08 seeks to examine dubious worlds of story telling and remote opinion making, to look critically at the means of creative conspiratorial strategies, and use these to uncover new forms of expression and digital discourse. The programme includes an exhibition to the festival’s theme CONSPIRE..., an extensive film & video programme, a several-day conference with international researchers, media activists and artists, a series of experimental performances

Artist are mostly likely of European Origin: eg

Lumina / Pulsation
"Lumina", a horizontal-lying light reflecting art work, crystalline and bio-amorphous in form refers to seemingly organic natural topology, which in balancing the tensions of gravity and levitation constitutes a challenge for the viewer’s expanded perceptional experience and (self)reflection.
The video work "Pulsation" shows a pulsating light phenomenon composed through the proceedings of light reflection, video projection of the X-ray scan of the artist’s brain and its computer modified video recordings. The light apparition as the bodily and technologically generated hybrid manifests the indivisible link of the organic body with the energy-level spiritual mentality.
